Connecting with Community
We want to be a blessing to Ferrybank as we are rooted deeply here and reach out widely in a range of ways.
Around the table
Sharing food as well as fun and games for all ages.
On the first Sunday each month from 1.00-3.00 in Hillsfield.
Most times we bring something to share together in a buffet style and see what comes together. This tends to be along the lines of fusion food, with our rich range of backgrounds. You are welcome to contribute, but don’t feel any obligation to bring something. There is enough to go around.
In the summer you might find us in the park.
Seminars on wellbeing & healthy relationships
Every few months on Saturday mornings we seek to create space to hear from some people with wisdom to share that might bring hope and help in these areas.
– Coming soon – Marriage Matters – 24 May – by Colin Creighton from Soulstory.ie and pastor of Carrickmacross Baptist Church. This promises also to be helpful for healthy relationships between men and women in general, as we appreciate how we are the same but different, and how we can live together well.
– Mental Health Seminar (Feb 2025) – we explored ‘Finding Hope in Dark Days’- bringing help and hope to those living with depression. This was a team from our congregation of Ivonne Pozerski (consultant psychiatrist), Janaina Pahaim (clinical psychologist) and Colin Holmes (pastor and author). Youtube of talks available.
– Parenting Seminar (Nov 2024) – based on a book from Sarah Ogbonna (a member of our congregation) called, ‘Nurturing Greatness – A Journey through MESS.
Community Events - Hosting & Helping
We seek to create opportunities for community to be built, support found, conversations had to bring hope and help.
This includes hosting the Easter Egg Hunt in 2024 and 2025 for families and children in collaboration with Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny Leader programme, as well as helping at other community events during the year, including Christmas.
Over the years we have been able to contribute to children and youth in the community in different ways, including Kids Bible Clubs and Pulse Youth Group and various summer activities.
